In my synopsis for Nightmares Echo I wrote-
Even as a young girl she knew she was different, knew she had secrets that must be hidden from view. This story delves into the mind of a child as she grows into womanhood, as she learns to live with and deal with sexual abuse from the hands of her Father ..... and the abuse that follows her in the future, more importantly this story is about courage and perseverance, of abuse — sexual, physical, verbal — but not just about the abuse, but also the nightmares that echo long after the damage is done. The hiding within the soul, the courage to endure and the countless stories you tell yourself while pushing the pain down below the surface and the struggles through life and love that you must challenge when as a young person you already have a "monkey on your back."
Now having read that-what are your feelings as a society? Why must a book like this be written to bring awareness to the world?
Even though I am now an adult and have worked through the devestating echo's of the nightmares that followed me long in to adulthood. The one question that I have asked myself time and time again is-Why did no one see what was happening? Hear what was happening? Even suspect what was happening?
In David Pelzer's book, "A Child Called It"-he relates the most horrifying of abusive situations. Yet, no Aunts, Uncles, or Grandparents could see what was happening to this child? For the life of me I can not understand this.
In a years time, the news will relate a child that has died from abuse. Some the children were supposidly under the protective watch of the HRS. Yet, their young crys for help were never heard, will never be heard.
We are in the year 2005, and yet the "Sexual Predator" list in each State grows rapidly. Both children and adults come forth on a daily basis with stories of the terrible ordeals they faced as children.
Is there not some way that we as a nation can come together, find a way to erradicate the abuse that children must face? I know it is a huge challenge...but it pains me deeply that every day one more child becomes a statistic.
Just my rantings for today.
Be blessed,
Kat
